Chris is founding partner of the law firm Van Olmen Wynant, a 14 lawyers "boutique" law firm, focusing on employment law.

Chris regularly writes and lectures on employment law issues. Chris is the author of the Belgian Chapter in "International Handbook on contracts of employment" and in "Global Recruiting, Screening, Testing, Interviewing and Criteria Handbook", Kluwer Law International 2007; Chris is also co-author of Global Business Workforce Restructuring, Kluwer Law International 2003.

Since 1999 he has been lecturing on social law in the traineeship programme organised by the Brussels Bar.

He is listed as a highly recommended lawyer in the PLC Handbooks, Labour and Employee Benefits 2007/08 and is also listed in the Legal Media Group Guide to the world's Leading Labour & Employment Lawyers and in The Legal 500.

From 1998 till 2001, Chris served as a member of the Brussels Bar Council.

Chris Van Olmen is an officer of the Employment Law and Industrial Relations Committee of the IBA; he was a speaker at the Vancouver Conference on Workers' Participation in the European Union, and also at the Durban Conference on Restructuring, the San Francisco Conference on dismissal issues, the Auckland Conference on both Corporate Governance and Dispute Resolution Techniques, the Barcelona Conference on Discrimination, the Chicago Conference on Protection of Privacy and Confidentiality in the Workplace and the Copenhagen Conference on Attracting and retaining talent.

Chris is secretary of the Law Firm Management Committee of the International Bar Association. He was a speaker at the Dublin, Boston, Rome and Prague Conferences, and he was also a speaker at the Eastern European Conference in Vienna.

Chris is also a member of EELA (European Employment Lawyers Association) and an associate member of the American Bar Association (Labour and Employment Law Section).
