Personal Background
Michael Blickman is the Chair of Ice Miller's Labor and Employment Group. He represents for-profit and not-for-profit employers in all aspects of employment and labor relations matters in both the public and private sectors. His practice also includes the representation of colleges and universities on a wide range of matters, such as student, faculty, and regulatory issues. His practice is extensive and includes federal and state court litigation, the representation of organizations before federal, state, and local administrative agencies; general employment and labor relations; college and university issues; human resources policies and handbook development; and employment contracts, including non-compete and trade secrets matters. Mr. Blickman has lectured extensively and presented seminars on a wide variety of employment law and other subjects. His practice includes training employees in regard to their legal responsibilities, such as anti-harassment training; lawful hiring and termination practices; performance evaluations; workplace violence; and discrimination laws. He has authored several published articles on employment law subjects. His comments and articles have appeared in several publications, such as USA Today, Entrepreneur Magazine, and many daily newspapers across the country. He is a member of the Indianapolis, Indiana State, and American Bar Associations. He is the past chairman of the Labor and Employment Section of the Indianapolis Bar Association. Mr. Blickman is also active in several community organizations. He serves on the board of trustees and is the president of the Indiana Historical Society (the second largest state historical organization in the country), and is a member of the board of directors of Play Ball Indiana, which creates and supports baseball programs for inner-city youth. He is a past president of Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation and serves on its Foundation Board. He is a past president and an honorary life board member of Social Health Association, a United Way agency, a recipient of the American Red Cross Hall of Fame award for an act of bravery that was recognized by the Red Cross, and a member of the Personnel Committee of the United Way of Central Indiana. Michael Blickman was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and graduated, with honors, from Miami University, Ohio, in 1975. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. In 1978, Mr. Blickman graduated, with honors, from Boston College School of Law. While in law school, he was elected editor-in-chief of the Boston College International and Comparative Law Journal and he also worked for the United Nations in its Office of General Legal Affairs in New York. Mr. Blickman joined Ice Miller in 1980. He is admitted to practice law in the States of Indiana and New York.
