DETROIT (11 July 2005) - The law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. proudly announces that Richard J. Seryak, a principal in the Detroit office, was recently elected as a Fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. Election as a Fellow is a coveted honor and the highest recognition by one's colleagues of sustained outstanding performance in the profession, exemplifying integrity, dedication and excellence.

The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers is a non-profit, professional association honoring the leading lawyers nationwide in the practice of labor and employment law.

Seryak's extensive labor and employment law experience spans 30 years and includes wrongful discharge and employment discrimination civil litigation, NLRB, MERC, EEOC, and Michigan Department of Civil Rights proceedings. He has been lead counsel in numerous reported labor and employment decisions. He also is a member of Miller Canfield's Automotive Group.

He is a member of the Michigan, Ohio, and Federal Bar Associations, the Michigan Public Employer Labor Relations Association (MPELRA), and a former co-chair of the Labor and Employment Section of the Federal Bar Association (Detroit Chapter). He is listed in Chambers USA 2005: America's Leading Lawyers for Business in the Employment Law Section.

He received his J.D. from George Washington University in 1975. He also attended Notre Dame Law School's 1994 Summer Program in Uxbridge, England. His B.A. in government is from the University of Notre Dame.

He resides in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, with his wife, Dr. Helene Dombrowski.
