Personal Background
Ms. Savard’s principal areas of interest are employment and labour law, administrative law, pay equity and human rights and freedoms. She advises employers particularly in matters relating to grievance arbitration, collective bargaining, employment contracts, labour standards, new legislation, judicial review, protection of personal information, pay equity, employment equity, occupational diseases, health and safety and financing. She frequently represents corporations regulated by federal or provincial labour laws before various judicial and quasi-judicial bodies which have jurisdiction in such matters, including grievance arbitrators, the Commission des relations du travail, the Canada Industrial Relations Board, the Commission des lésions professionnelles, the Human Rights Tribunal and arbitrators appointed under the Canada Labour Code in cases of unjust dismissal. Ms. Savard also serves on the Conseil consultatif du travail et de la main-d'œuvre as an employer representative and acts as counsel to the Conseil du patronat du Québec and the Chambre de commerce du Québec on various labour and employment topics. Ms. Savard is Montréal Chair of the Labour and Employment Law group.
