Kenichi Kojima graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Tokyo in 1991 and then received training at the Legal Training and Research Institute of the Supreme Court of Japan in 1994 and was admitted to the bar the same year. He joined Ushijima & Associates, now Ushijima & Partners in 1994, as well.
Kenichi is the partner principally in charge of labor and employment law on behalf of the firm. He has handled many domestic and international labor disputes and has advised management in various related matters including: setting up companies, M&A, restructuring, performance management, data and privacy in employment, and non-compete agreements. In litigation he has won many precedent-setting cases. Kenichi periodically gives trade seminars regarding, among other things, the role of human resources departments and line managers in maintaining compliance with labor laws and regulations and promoting the health and productivity of the workforce. He has published analyses on topics such as employment of the disabled, the mental and physical health of employees, and the management of work hours. He is fluent in English and Japanese.
