The firm's Labour Law and Industrial Disputes Practice unit advises on all aspects of Sri Lankan labour law and termination procedures and undertakes scrutiny of employment contracts for compliance under Sri Lankan law. Commercial, Corporate and Foreign Investment
Core areas include advice on FDI rules, capital markets and regulation as well as due diligence, structuring of complex share and asset acquisition deals, restructuring, taxation aspects, drafting of shareholders' agreements, joint venture agreements, supply agreements, and articles of association.
Intellectual Property (IP)
The firm acts for an ever expanding client base of foreign IP owners in connection with applications to register and protect their trademarks, patents and industrial designs in Sri Lanka. In addition, we advise on oppositions and contentious IP litigation. We also undertake trademark searches and draft IP related aspects of franchise and license agreements.
We currently act for clients outside Sri Lanka in litigation and applications connected with: recovery of amounts due on unpaid invoices for goods supplied and delivered to local importers; recovery of loans made to individuals now resident in Sri Lanka; enforcement of judgments obtained abroad in Sri Lanka; re-sealing of probates and testamentary work affecting assets owned in Sri Lanka by non- nationals.
