Roger A. Wolfe is the most senior Member of the Firm's Labor and Employment Practice Group. Mr. Wolfe joined the Firm in 1974, after serving one year as a law clerk for the Honorable K. K. Hall, United States District Court, Southern District of West Virginia. Since that time, Mr. Wolfe has worked extensively in all aspects of employment law, including wrongful discharge, employment and labor litigation, unfair labor practices and other procedures before the NLRB, organizing campaigns, labor negotiations, arbitrations, strikes, unemployment compensation proceedings, matters before the EEOC, federal and state departments of labor and the West Virginia Human Rights Commission. He has also been involved in a number of class actions and other complex cases and has pursued graduate courses in the application of statistical methodology to employment matters. Mr. Wolfe served a number of times as a mediator in employment disputes and as a lecturer on employment issues. Mr. Wolfe has also served as an adjunct professor of employment law for the West Virginia University College of Law and in the University's Masters of Legal Studies.
Among the professional honors he has received, Mr. Wolfe has been listed for a number of years in the The Best Lawyers in America®, Labor and Employment Law, published by Woodward/White, Inc. and has been named among America's leading labor and employment lawyers by Chambers USA. In the 2011 edition of Chambers USA, Mr.Wolfe is noted by sources for having "practical experience" in labor and employment law. Mr. Wolfe served for many years as the Chair of the West Virginia State Bar's Employment Law Committee and, in 1992, co‑chaired the West Virginia Blue Ribbon Personnel Commission, which was appointed by the Governor and Legislature to study public bargaining issues in West Virginia. Mr. Wolfe is currently serving on the Public Employee Bargaining Commission, which was recently appointed by the Governor to consider public employer bargaining issues.
