Ice Miller LLP is pleased to announce it has again been recognized as a Top 100 Law Firm for Diversity by MultiCultural Law Magazine. Ice Miller was ranked 15th in the "Top 100 Law Firms for Women" listing, and 11th in the publication's "Top 25 Law Firms for African-Americans" listing.
"We know that a diverse workforce strengthens our firm and enhances our service to clients, " stated Phillip Bayt, chief managing partner, Ice Miller. "We are pleased to be recognized for our commitment to diversity again this year. Our forward progress in the rankings reflect the continuing efforts of many people, in every aspect of our organization, to put plans into action."
In January 2012, Ice Miller combined with Columbus-based Schottenstein Zox & Dunn. With this combination the Firm has expanded into a true regional operation with offices located in Chicago, Cleveland, Columbus, DuPage County, Ill., Indianapolis and Washington, D.C. Ice Miller has several individuals, including women and minorities, who are dedicated to the Firm's commitment to equal opportunity in the legal profession. Most specifically, the chairs of the diversity committee and professional development committee are women, and the chair of the Firm's personnel committee is a minority female.
Over the years, Ice Miller has demonstrated support for a culturally diverse environment. During the 1970s, Ice Miller was one of the first major firms in the state to elect a woman to the partnership, and the first major firm in Indiana to vote a minority female into the partnership. Ice Miller was also the first among the major law firms in the Midwest to have a female serve as managing partner.
Annually, MultiCultural Law Magazine distributes surveys to law firms across the nation and derives their diversity statistics to later create the highly competitive "Top 100 Law Firms for Diversity." Additionally, statistics are gathered for other lists, including "Top 100 Law Firms for Women," "Top 50 Law Firms for Partners," "Top 50 Law Firms for Associates," "Top 25 Law Firms for African-Americans," "Top 25 Law Firms for Asian-Americans," "Top 25 Law Firms for Hispanic-Americans," and "Top 25 Law Firms for Native-Americans."
