Katalin Füredi received her law degree in Law and Political Science from Eötvös Loránd School of Law in Budapest, summa cum laude, in 1990. She obtained an LL.M. degree from Harvard Law School, Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States in 1995 and received another LL.M. degree with merits in International Business Law at the London School of Economics and Political Science in the following year. She started her career as an associate of a business law firm (the legal predecessor of the Gárdos, Benke, Mosonyi, Tomori Law Firm). As a stagiare, she earned valuable work experience at the Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen Hamilton Law Firm, in Brussels. In addition, Ms Füredi did a legal internship at the Office of General Counsel of the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development in 1996. When Gárdos, Benke, Mosonyi, Tomori Law Firm was established, she continued working there as an associate and laterand became a partner in 1996. She works a partner in the field of corporate law, securities, business law, privatization and acquisitions. Among others, she represented western companies in privatization and acquisitions of majority and minority stakes in Hungarian companies and Hungarian affiliates of foreign investors in their corporate transactions. She advised foreign companies in antitrust proceedings and provided day-to-day legal services to a leading investment management company and a securities printing house. She has been advising a leading energy company in relation to its day-to-day and strategic legal issues. She also represented a western company involved in international issuance of Hungarian securities. Ms Füredi has been a member of the Budapest Bar Association and the New York State Bar (United States) since 1996.
