Firm Background

Arendt & Medernach is a law firm with international banking, corporate, tax, commercial finance, litigation and fund management practices. The principal offices of Arendt & Medernach are located in Luxembourg, one of the world's leading financial centers. Luxembourg is second only to London in the EU in terms of the concentration of financial and banking activity. Luxembourg's flexible banking and investment fund legislation and extensive double tax treaty network have enabled it to emerge as a leading financial center for international lending, investment funds and private banking.

Our firm was formed in 1988 by the merger between the two Luxembourg law firms of Arendt & Harles and Mersch & Medernach. We offer to our institutional and Luxembourg clients a comprehensive law service in the key areas of Banking and Finance, Corporate and Tax, Investment Management and Litigation. We are dedicated to providing legal advice and service of the highest quality in an environment characterised by a flexible approach and a responsive attitude to client relationships.

Arendt & Medernach continues to expand and to develop the services it offers to both its Luxembourg and foreign clients. This expansion has included the establishment of foreign offices. In 1995 we opened an office in Brussels, the seat of many EU institutions and a significant business and financial center. Our Brussels office occupies a niche position in the financial legal sector. In 2000, our firm entered into a strategic alliance with Dillon Eustace, one of the principal Irish law firms creating one of the leading fund management practices acting globally. At the beginning of the year 2001 we established an office in Amsterdam offering comprehensive legal services in the areas of corporate and tax related matters.
