The renowned Magazine International Financial Law Review (IFLR) has elected the Austrian law firm of Cerha Hempel Spiegelfeld Hlawati (CHSH) as "Austrian Law Firm of the Year". Edith Hlawati, Managing Partner of CHSH, who was joined by her partners Volker Glas and Albert Birkner, received the award on March 25, 2004 in London.

The award is granted annually. The jury of the award consisted of renowned journalists and members of the research department of IFLR. CHSH received the award for its high quality legal services. The jury emphasised the competence of the law firm in the field of "Banking & Corporate Finance", which the firm proved in advising the Dutch Heineken-Group in the takeover of the BBAG-Group. The Heineken/BBAG takeover with a EUR 1,9 billion volume was the second largest public takeover ever in Austria. The award also acknowledges CHSH's legal advice in the IPO of Bank Austria Creditanstalt, the EMTN programme of Telekom Austria as well as the privatisation by ÖIAG of voestalpine and Böhler-Uddeholm. In 2003, the "Banking & Corporate Finance" team of CHSH advised on transactions with a total volume of approx. EUR 5 billion.

Edith Hlawati: "This award shows that our services are also acknowledged internationally. We are proud of that. My thanks go to my colleagues. This success would not have been possible without their dedication."
