Personal Background
Before returning to London in 1996, Alec also handled numerous arbitrations (including sitting occasionally as an Arbitrator), investment dispute, disaster, commercial contract and employment litigation, and was well-known in most areas of insurance dispute resolution including CAR, jewellers block, Bankers Blanket Bond, credit and political risk, property and business interruption, e&o, marine and aviation.
He moved to the Dubai office in 1999. Where he continues to practice in the same area of commercial dispute resolution.
He has spoken widely and written numerous articles, mainly for trade publications, on international trade, shipping, transportation law, insurance and dispute resolution topics.
In recent independent legal directories Alec is highly recommended by PLC: Which Lawyer? 2006 and is described as “practical, worldly-wise, tenacious and efficient” and as “excellent, hands on and knowledgeable lawyer” in Chambers Global 2006.

The firm in the Middle East was established in 1989. We have offices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. We provide advice to a wide range of clients from countries all around the world on their operations throughout the Middle East.
Clyde & Co also has a correspondent office in Baghdad, Iraq. We became the first international law firm to be involved in Iraq when, in June 2003, Clyde & Co entered into an exclusive co-operation agreement with the Law Office of Numan Shakir Numan.
